Creating an Inclusive ethos and culture

In my experience, there are two factors tha I think are effectively contributing to an inclusive ethos and culture. Those two factors are:
(1) Reading Literacy Programme  which can be described as an opportunity to get the students and parents involved in read alouds. However, it is done using a social media platform where tokens are given to the most viewed or liked student weekly, monthly and at the end of the term. Though it sounds like a competition it has worked to build the students self-esteem in themselves and improve in their reading skills to perform better in other academic areas.

(2) Steelpan in School Programme which can be described as using the students musical intellegence for performance. However, it also gives the students opportunity to be creative. It is evident that the programme has now instilled confidence and motivation in the students that they can achieve anything they put their minds to and it has helped drastically because they have become my focused in other areas just as they are focused in playing steelpan. Students who was observed to be experiencing learning difficulties, with their involvement in the steelpan programme has shown great interest in other academic areas and are performing well both in academics and extra curricular activities.
