Developing Positive Attitudes

Children with disabilities encounter challenges at home and at school. Their parents play a great role in these challenges mainly because they are in denial that their child has a disability. This then affects the child at school negatively. The staff now has to work double the effort to assist the child. The teacher uses strategies to help the child progress. For example, a child with speech delay. The teacher has to teach letter sounds using various resources such as audio devices or lip reading for the child to learn. With the assistance of the parents these strategies could have become less stressful for the teacher to implement if they were in acceptance of the child's disability.
