2.7 Positive Behavior Management Strategies

In accordance with the GATE resource document in managing behaviour, I have personally used a few of these strategies in managing behaviour in my classroom, for which I will further discuss. These strategies were successful in managing and changing disruptive behaviours.

In my practice, I have used the strategy of pointing out the unwanted behaviour, explaining the unwanted behaviour to the class and the child, then, explain what is accepted and asked the class to assist the child in not repeating this behaviour. This practice worked as everyone worked together to not display this behaviour and also, if there was an inclination of the child wanting to display the behavior, his/her peers would discourage it immediately. For this reason, the other strategy of rewards, was given to the entire class.

Another that was used, was the parent/teacher link, for which the parent(s) was/were informed of the unwanted behaviour. then, both teacher and parents together, decided upon strategies to be used at home to ensure the behaviour is improved upon.
