A culture of positive behaviour

I often resort to this strategy (with all the learners) and I find it very useful and rewarding. 

I start the lesson by reminding everyone of the class rules and set the class a goal to achieve a certain number of rewards (stickers or smileys in their notebooks). This is likely to keep them (all) on target.
