2.2 Creating an Inclusive ethos & culture

One of the policies of a primary school in my area with regard to admittance of children with disabilities, is that the child must have an aide, depending on the severity of the disability. The parents, aide and child have to meet with the Principal and the teacher to discuss the child's needs, expectations and the curriculum (if differentiated). The aide however provides most of the support and monitoring of progress. I can't say whether or not the entire staff is sensitized to the needs of the child, or if this is done as the child goes from one grade to the next.
