Features of an Inclusive School

Two features that I believe are essential to fostering inclusion are

1. Teachers support and

2. Family Involvement.

When the staff at the school are 'pro-inclusion', more effort will be put into ensuring that inclusion is a success. Teachers support will enable more individualized planning and preparation. Therefore, the support of staff is quite important.

The support and involvement is also critical. This is so because for inclusion to be successful, reinforcement at home is key. Parents should be aware of the objectives and goals that the teachers have set and a continuation of the strategies at school should be extended at home.
