Activity 1.5

Two factors I think that will be effective in contributing to an inclusive ethos and culture are :

1. Promoting a positive classroom environment be it physical or virtual class, it is vital for student's engagement and learning.   Teachers should have a kind caring attitude to welcome all students regardless of their ethnicities, socio-economic background or educational readiness.  In addition, singing a welcome song in two different languages or a simple greetings or having informal conversations can provide a warm atmosphere as students enter the classroom. By doing this, it will boost students' participation based on the mutual respect developed between teachers and students.

2. Encouraging student interaction amongst students and their peers will help them to converse with others from different backgrounds which in turn learn about different life experiences they may encounter as well as provide an opportunity for them to meet and connect with their peers of different backgrounds.

Hi

I concur with your post especially point #2. When children are engaged in different activities or even simply free play they do learn a lot from each other.  Presently on our online platform, simply conversation between them shares a lot about themselves and gives the opportunity to grow and learn.

Good Job!!

I agree with you. positive attitude on part of the teacher can lead to positive attitude on the learners and the classroom environment would be comfortable for all learners.

I agree that children can make the school environment welcoming or not for others. Once a child feel that they are not welcome their learning and development is affected.
