Establishing a culture of positive behaviour

Give overactive children meaningful tasks to do so that their energy is directed towards positive behaviour.

I use this strategy. It works. Some children feel as if the teacher does not like them or value them. They may  want the teacher to pay them some attention. For some children, getting the negative attention of being scolded or always having to correct them  makes them feel noticed and this is worth getting into trouble for.  Giving the meaningful tasks helps them to gain positive attention, raises their self esteem and helps the other children see them in a positive light.
