Activity 2:8 Reviewing the behaviour checklist

Display rules in the classroom and ensure that the students and staff know what they are.

This is not evident at the school nor are there policies in place to for standardize rules  . If you put up rules then you have to explain and will be told to take down because the ministry did not sanction them.

How does this work in a government institution school were policies are made and directed by them for staff to adhere too?

Involving the children in creating classroom rules is very effective.

Yes, I have the same question on rules governing straightening behavior of learners. One in our education system, counselling of  learners for mistakes that they make in school is what is emphsized. You realize that this is too official and does not help the teacher to deal with 'on the spot' disruptive behaviours which are commonly displayed during lessons. In most cases each teacher therefore ends up having their own way of controlling bad behaviour- sometimes inflicting too much pain on the child  which unfortunately could even be fatal!

Question is -what parameters( standard) can be used to ensure  that meted 'punisment'  is commensurate with  displayed misbehavior?
