3.6 School-Based Teacher Development

One challenge that SBTD might present in your context, and one opportunity.

Challenge:
  • Regular Teacher Group Meetings (TGMs) may be challenging as the issue of what to do with the students may be a challenge. Additionally, many teachers are not willing to have "working lunches" to accommodate this. Lunch hours are guarded jealously, and since there isn't a system of "non-contact time" then there is the challenge of when and how to meet.
Opportunity:
  • Some resources do exist; familiarizing ourselves with them is a great opportunity to know what is available to achieve more engaging classroom time and activities
