Two factors that can positively contribute to an inclusive ethos and culture are, the continuous personal and professional development of staff and a strong parent/ teacher partnership.
When teachers foster an attitude of continuous learning and obtaining knowledge it strengthens and enhance their ability to provide inclusive education. It also builds the relationship among the staff as they pool their resources, support and encourage each other.
Having a strong parent/ teacher partnership goes a long way in helping children. Parents provide information that help teachers to understand the ethos and culture of their homes/families, which aids teachers in planning curriculum and strategies to reach each child at his/her point of need. Parents can also help in organizing celebrations (birthdays, country festivals, etc) and awards. This gives the parents a sense of belonging as they feel a part of the school. The children will also feel more comfortable and appreciated.
