2.9 Teachers As Role Models In Inclusive Schools

Throughout this chapter, I saw the teacher as the person in school, being at the forefront, conveying positive attitudes and behaviours about disabilities and differences to learners. Sensitivity in and to all situations encountered, has to be dealt with wisely and fairly. The teacher's responsibility is also ever changing, as new issues call for constant adaptation and readily bringing students up to speed with these changes. Clearly no student should be left behind, as new approaches to learning must be found to give all learners a chance to have a better quality of life from that first teacher/student encounter and moving into the future.

I agree with you the teacher's role is more than just imparting knowledge. He or she is the one who sets the environment to make sure that all students have a fair chance of achieving their full potential.
