Activity 1.6 Professional development

In a workshop I attended I learnt about the need for inclusivity. I learnt about the need to teach in such a way that consideration is given to the students I am charged with teaching, their background, what they are familiar with, their likes and dislikes and their competency level. These are key areas that inform planning  the curriculum and programme of work for the academic year and strategies to use to meet the needs of all the students in class. One of the areas I  read about was teaching content area reading and strategies to help the struggling reader. This indeed was useful in my practice as a teacher throughout the years. as it helped me to consider how to prepare for reading sessions with students.

It is important to understand the children you are entrusted with, knowing and understanding the child as an individual helps to make a smooth flow forward. Seemed liked an interesting workshop.
