Policies for Incusive Education

At the centre I teach, we admit children over the years with various disabilities. We have had children with hearing impairments, cerebral palsy, physical impairments, speech impairments, behavioral challenges, social challenges and others. One thing that we do that works for us is, the child does not be only the responsibility of the group teacher but the responsibility of the entire staff at the centre. We work together to assist that teacher, be it through daily assistance and support, weekly planning, exchanging strategies, we work together as a team. The children also assist. We do a buddy system where every day a child gets to assist in being that child’s  buddy for the day and the children enjoy doing that, being a helper.

I love the strategy of team teaching as well as the buddy system.
