It takes a Community to Raise a Child

This is very interesting because some communities destroy their children thinking they are making them, such as the communities which adore early marriage and Female Genital Mutilation and patriarchal decision making.

We can say,' It takes some communities to destroy a child'.

I wonder what a teacher raised in such a community  would do in such situations to include all children in learning.

Sure Florence, some communities have practices that hinder realization of full potentials of their children (both boys and girls) as you have mentioned. This reminds us of what we learnt in week 3 about creating a learning organisation. If the communities do not support education and equal opporunities in life for all, inclusivity cannot be realized. Three questions come to my mind: 

1) Would teachers born and bred in such communities bring change in the mind set of  their people? How?

2) Would teachers from outside such communities play a role in changing the attitude of the people towards inclusivity? How?

3. How would  administrators and school boards overcome obstacles towards creating inclusive schools in such communities?
