Features of an inclusive School

1. School's welcoming attitude- a system where all children are entitled to an education and participate in all curricular and extra-curricular activities regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic background or disability.

2. Policies- school creates a policy where it welcome all students and celebrates diversity, ensuring students feel culturally safe and valued in the community and society at large.

3. Attitudes of parents- parents are partners in their child's learning and the school facilitates this through parental meetings to plan and monitor their child's progress.

4. Classroom teachers- Teachers must have core competencies to teach mixed abilities of students, participate in ongoing teacher professional training, refer to the curriculum to meet all learners needs, and have resources at their disposal to facilitate inclusive practices.

5. Environment- the school's environment must be well-equipped with barriers to accommodate students with or without disability, safe, and ramps available for easy access to  students with  mobility challenges.
