Two important features in an inclusive school includes the resources(teacher and administrator attitude, materials) together with the environment .
The teacher and administrator are in one group of resources in the school environment. How the teacher and administrator view inclusive education will determine what he or she will do to co-operate with others to ensure an inclusive school, or implement effective teaching for all children in the classroom. The teacher is the one that can facilitate progression for an inclusive classroom/school. The teacher's and administrator's attitudes and contributions will encourage students to accepted and comfortable at school. It will also make parents and other stakeholders to feel at liberty to become part of the school. Thus leading to support for much needed resources such as markers, paper and devices to assist children who are slow learners, physically challenged or have other disabilities in ways such a hearing or visual impairment.
The environment also plays an important part in ensuring that there is an inclusive school. Due to the fact that making the environment more adaptable is a necessity. Installing ramps, toilets and rails and even widening special areas can ensure or help persons with physical disabilities feel accepted. This initiative would help the individual to manipulate his/her way around the school environment in a less tedious manner
I am a part of an environment in which some aspects of making provisions for an inclusive school has been established( specially built toilets and spacious area). Computer devices, books and other materials such as paper glue etc. has been given to the school . Teachers are asked to continuously observe and record children on a daily basis as part of the daily routine and curriculum requirement. Many of these teachers were exposed to a basic knowledge in identifying or assisting children who display developmental delays or disabilities as part of their training. However teachers are also taught to keep the records of their students and refer to professionals according to the severity of what is observed.
