3.2 -Experiences of Professional
Development
One professional development workshop
which I attended that challenged my thinking and helped me to improve my
practice was one that I attended in 2019 called Music, Movement and Early
Childhood. I teach 3- and 4-year-old children and this workshop was interactive
and helped me to develop new ideas and strategies that I incorporated in the
classroom. I saw the important role that music played in the language
development of children and how it improved their listening skills. The
children in my class, at the time, loved making animal sounds and making animal
movements and music and movement helped the children who were having a
difficult time with separation from their parents in the morning get
comfortable and laugh within their groups, helping them to socialize and be
comfortable in the school environment. This is just to name a few. Since then, I
have utilized many more strategies and had many more wonderful experiences with
them.
