Hello
everyone!
It’s amazing
to see how time apparently flies fast when engrossed in an enjoyable and
educative task. It sounds almost unbelievable that we have come to the end of
week 3!
Your
valuable contributions have really “created a Learning Organisation” in this
Community of Practice.
Thank you ALL.
This is a
brief summary from your discussions in week 3:
1. Most
participants have had a professional development experience which they found effective
in their practice. Some of the professional development experiences include:
Leadership, ICT integration in education, Quality Assurance in Education, Open
Educational Resources, Early Childhood, and Care Education (ECCE), Special
Education, Inclusive Education courses (Inclusive Teaching & Learning, and
Creating an Inclusive School - which are ongoing currently).
TESSA and COL MOOCs were particularly
noted for providing most professional development experiences.
2. Some of the mentioned requirements for
teachers to take part in a “Learning Study” are:
- Motivation
and support from administrators
- Conducive
and non-threatening environment
- Commitment
and willingness to learn
- The
learning study should include practice and reflections on real contexts
- ·
Provision
of resources
3. Opportunities and Challenges in SBTD.
Opportunities:
- Allow
reflections in practice
- The
SBTD resources are relevant and can be contextualized
- Enables
teachers to grow professionally
Challenges:
- Negative
attitudes from teachers and unwillingness to
learn and implement new strategies
- Coming
up with plans for SBTD amidst scarce time and heavy workloads.
4. There is a need to have comprehensive monitoring
tools for inclusivity which should vary depending on context.
Welcome to
the final leg of the 4 weeks’ content whose focus is on how to involve and work
with the wider communities, families, and organizations in Creating an Inclusive School.
