3.2 (Professional development)

Being a teacher, I have been attending professional development workshops for over a decade and the one that stood out to me the most was planning age-appropriate activities for children to ensure that each child can develop the skills that is needed to move to further education. At the ECCE level children are three (3) to five (5) years of age planning activities entails building their social skills, fine motor skills, problem solving skills and their ability to take responsibility and further more developing the child as a person (self-concept).

I think that children at this age may prosper best with schooling being a place of comfort and enjoyment. Teachers should plan activities such as painting, experimenting, dramatizing, picture reading, building puzzles and outdoor playground time. Setting a proper foundation prepares the child for further learning and gives them an all-rounded start to their life in the bigger wider world.
