The attitudes Daniel is talking about come from the teachers. These learners with varied capacities must be included with other learners and given a chance to show how they can perform.
Attitude of learner capacities: Some teachers think that learners with varied capacities/ diverse needs can't learn so they attempt to teach them at a lower level.
Teachers also believe that if we put the students together with other students they will not learn.
Teachers also think some of these learning needs are contagious.
We have been able to include students with varied capacities by implementing differentiated learning and in some cases having the guidance of an in house Special Education teacher to give helpful tips on how to move forward with the students. We also have the assistance of a Student Support Services Special Ed. teacher to give guidance with assessments and learning moments. This is working for quite a few of the students.
