Question 1a: What needs to be in place to enable teachers to partake in a learning study?
- teachers must be willing to work collaboratively
- Time sensitivity - thoughts and discussions that happened 'in the moment' should be recorded and shared amongst the group of team. This helps teachers to 1)see how teaching methods affect student learning, 2) momentarily shift the focus away from teaching practice and unto learners experience and teaching effectiveness. this is where teachers 'knowledge in practice' develops.
Question 1b: How will 'learning studies' develop the inclusive teacher?
- for an inclusive teacher a 'learning study' brings to the forefront different ways children with disabilities may be experiencing "normal" classroom activities/ lessons and how these lessons can be adjusted to improve the experience of the child(ren) with special needs.
- by using what he/ she has learnt, the inclusive teacher can now plan activities/lessons that are better suited for all his/her learners. Through learning studies teachers get to grow their knowledge in a practical sense where real life experiences of the learner is being used to guide lesson planning which makes for better suited activities that are geared specifically towards learner needs.
