Working with Families

In addition to the examples given of ways families can work with the school, another suggestion can be families volunteering at the school; both on a daily basis as well as functions, events et al. The school can form committees based on the help that may be needed on the day to day operations of the school as well as committees for upcoming functions and events and allow parents to volunteer for the committee/s they think they can be an asset to and lend their expertise to. Teachers will spearhead these committee but work hand in hand with the parents, ensuring that the children's interests are at the forefront of everyone's minds.

Another suggestion would be to make home visits to the children's homes. In this way, humble observations can be made and the school can render help to the families that may be in need. Yes there are children who would be partaking in the breakfast programme, however sometimes we need to go beyond just breakfast and really reach out and help. The communities and stakeholders can greatly assist on this venture by coming together to make food/ toiletries hampers, engage in food drives and render professional specialist services etc.
