Activity 1.2

Inclusion is important in schools as it allows the child/children to feel accepted as they are catered for in the environment. Two important features of an inclusive school would include the teacher/administrator along with the physical environment.

As teachers we should be able to facilitate inclusion in the classroom as it may be difficult sometimes, it starts with our attitude towards the child/children, seeking their best interest along with being able to cater for their individual needs. This may include be not limited to engaging in research along with discussion with others in the field to assist the child/children.

The physical environment plays a critical role as it would allow the child to feel safe and comfortable. It includes the architectural design, the arrangement of furnishing and floor covering, selection and placement of materials, design and display of physical materials, lighting and sounds.
