Activity 1.4
A situation where I encounter that was very challenging was one where the physical environment did not meet the needs of all the learners at the center. There was no physical infrastructure like washroom facilities for children with special needs. Additionally, the doors were made of glass and the child would always throw objects at the door. The doors were unable to lock from the inside so the child would always try to run away and the number of teachers to child ratio was very limited. Although the teachers had positive attitudes the situation was sad since there were a few students at the center that had special needs, little resources, little space and limited teachers. The attitudes of the board members to make changes to facilitate these children resulted in some of them leaving to attend special needs schools.
