Activity 2.5

  • all children with disabilities have someone to play with at break time
I once knew a student who could not speak properly, she would not interact or play with the other children, they would approach her but she would run away or push them aside, however when they needed help in their activities she would always try to take over their work without saying anything. Sometimes she would even complete their activity. At playtime and outside time she would play by herself. The teacher with the help of a support staff created a game called "helpful friend" using a pin to tag the helper. The teacher made the little girl help a newcomer in and around the school, even though she could not speak, she would point and show him things, eventually everywhere she went she held on to his hand to tag along. They became best of friends and somehow the little boy understood her.
