An example of how schools can work with families is by showing appreciation for the various cultural and religious backgrounds shared by families. In a school which I am familiar, it is customary for each religious and cultural observance to be celebrated in some way within the school setting.  In some instances members of families are the ones who will share insights and information about the religious or cultural observance that they are affiliated with. These 'event' are usually well attended and helps to strengthen the bonds between staff and families. Families feel valued and appreciated and this leads to a great deal of mutual respect towards each party involved.
