“How schools will monitor the effectiveness of
policies to support inclusivity.
Children are a major part of the school population and
it is imperative to find out how well we are progressing or not.
In the ECCE setting, there are clearly defined
policies: “Authentic Assessment” in terms of tracking student’s progress.
Therefore, assessment of the children’s development is
required to be on a regular basis. These
assessments are of various types, for example, daily observations, portfolios,
developmental checklists, field notes, narratives and more, and they reflect
the performance of each child in the class. This assessment gives us an
indication of their strength and their challenge and the developmental level at
which they are at currently.
These assessments help us to identify individual
challenges and to plan ahead to overcome these challenges. These may include
strategies on the following: the individual student, curriculum adaption,
teacher learning/teaching styles, changes on physical infrastructure and
learning/supportive aids.
