Activity 4.4 School based partnerships.

I would convince local stakeholders to make better links outside the school by showing the benefits that can come from a 'community' approach. Remembering that a child doesn't grow and develop with just the influence of the school and home that they come from. Getting other support groups( medical teams, after school activities, food and nutrition organizations ,etc.) involved in the 'school life' of children may hold tremendous rewards for both entities. When there is a strong sense of community among everyone, there is more acceptance towards each other, regardless of what their need is. It may also create a sense of hope for those who are most in need.

Indeed, if stakeholders are educated on how important their input is to a child's future it can make a difference. therefore the stakeholder would be improving the circumstances for a child/children and he or she, they (the stakeholder), they would also be making preparation for his own future. yes it takes a village to raise a child. As it is written one group plant, another water and all will benefit from the increase in the child's life.

Activity 4.4 Ebhotwe Primary School: school-based partnerships

1. Examples of Internal Support: Faculty, Staff of the School and some students are a part of that too, wo displayed a certain level of maturity and empathy, some are charged with the responsibility of helping with programmes, good communicators, work with the disabled child, general/menial tasks that these students could help with.

External Teams Community Partnerships and Stakeholders all offering support:

Organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and UNICEF are good examples of Community-Based Teams to help with Inclusivity for example, in Trinidad and Tobago UNICEF has a Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago UNICEF Work Plan 2013-2016.

For example Habitat for Humanity has a branch in El Socorro San Juan and is a non-profit Christian organization which has programmes that aim to help eliminate poverty and homelessness in our country. The organization depends heavily on volunteers who give their time to provide housing, free labour and materials that are donated to provide housing for the less fortunate. Individuals and businesses also donate money to the organization. Habitat for Humanity are in partnerships with Republic Bank, ABELS, Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre, Penta etc.

2. Extra help or work help including conflict, mentorship programmes within the school's infrastructure is not only confined to academics but life in general.

3. Children who are born with some type of disability or physical or mental deformity do not do so by choice. This is basically their luck in life. As a society we cannot and should not treat them like second class citizens because they are not. So we must make special allowances to treat and make these students a vital part of the fabric of our society.

The risks or challenges that you face alot of the time with partnerships is the quality of help, the motivation for who seek to become partners for their own personal reasons or gains and religious beliefs. Although it's not a real concern but occasionally other religious beliefs may factor it as a risk of partnership.

The advantages would be External Resources. Some people might be able to bring a certain expertise. The child is going to benefit greatly from that Resource that may not be available to them like now with partnerships from financial and domestic help to academics.

4. Outside the school you have a wider birth of Resources that becomes available. The school only has so much that the Government or the School Board can afford access to more Resources you will get outside the school.

Involving all entities in the planning stages and showing the benefits to all is definitely helpful to convince the school to agree the proposal.
