4.2 Working With Families

One initiative of schools which always works well is the formation of a social assistance committee. There are quite a number of students coming from low socio economic households and volunteer groups formed by the school with other students, can offer aid in a number of ways. Besides that, it teaches the children to give back to society, builds comradery amongst the school population and impacts on the overall positive reputation of the institution:

These are a few projects which can be undertaken with success:

1. Skilled students engage in projects to perform minor repair works to schoolmates homes.

2. Raise funds to assist with foodstuff on a monthly basis.

3. Students and teachers can donate clothing in good condition which they have outgrown and package to offer the less fortunate in the community at least one Saturday/Sunday a month or quarterly from the school's compound.
