The term "teacher as a role model" is one that teachers should not take lightly. As a teacher I am aware of the influence I have on my students, parents and by extension my community. This is why I take my responsibility very seriously and also my willingness to adapt inclusivity both in and out of the school setting. My role extends beyond academics it also involves my ability to connect not just my students but all stakeholders. My role extends also into inclusion of meeting the needs of parents, staff members, administration and community members, as they sometimes seek assistance. My willingness to promote inclusion based on needs have proven to create a positive atmosphere where all stakeholders are more responsive, thus creating a functioning inclusive school.
Teachers are always referred to as role models. This means that people view teachers in high regards. Therefore it is important that we maintain a certain standard. Teachers when working with children and families should always be welcoming especially towards children with disabilities and their families. I believe with the positive mindset and attitude teachers will have a profound effect on children they educate.
