Activity 1.2: What makes an inclusive school?

Two important features of an inclusive school are

  • Inclusive education is the responsibility of all teacher. It has to be a whole school approach. Everyone must be on board mentally, emotionally and physically for it to work properly as there would be mainstreaming.
  • inclusive education is also about what teachers can do to support every child in the classroom .

in  the school that i know there are scheduled meetings ,in these meetings teachers join together to plan weekly activities ,decide what resources can be used and discuss problematic issues with the school the children and agree on ways to remedy all situations .

The points mentioned are so important. All children has a right to an education regardless of ability. When we say inclusive education we must mean it as teachers, and all stakeholders involved in the life of a child. Inclusive education is when all children regardless of their challenges that they may have are placed into an environment or general classroom as a nerotypical child will be in.

Secondly, At a particular Ecce school I am familiar with I have seen ramp access for children who uses a wheelchair, A support room for children who need that additional support and a resource room with materials that caters for all learning styles for the children in their care.

Finally,  I have also seen that regular schedule planning meeting for teachers and all staff members are done to chart the way forward. To enhance positive growth and development.
