Activity 3.2 Professional Development

I would have to say that Classroom Pedagogy was a professional development course that was very beneficial to me. Part of the course was about situations that may take place in the classroom, and I had to challenge myself to come up with different strategies to remedy the situations.

This course added value to my teaching profession because I am now able to look at a situation from different angles and come up with strategies that can be used to enhance teaching and learning.

That's positive news teachers and parents appreciate.  Meaningful professional development courses to suit growth and development of teachers teaching is a great achievement.

Recently I participated in a virtual workshop understanding children with special needs. Through this course I was able to changed my beliefs on how children with Autism learn and receive information. Also plan meaningful instructions and intervention strategies into my practice to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom and wider environment.

One of the most effective professional development sessions I have been exposed to was a staff-based session to learn about educational tools for improving the effectiveness of online learning.

Activity 3.2 Professional Development

Dear Emely,

Thanks much for sharing your post.

'Hats off to you' for indicating that this course has added value to your teaching profession because it has provided you the opportunity to look at a situation from different angles and come up with strategies that can be used to enhance teaching and learning.

My challenge comes in trying to work collaboratively with my working colleagues since they have gotten accustom to working as individuals in their isolated classroom environment for many year, and I honestly think this pattern of behaviour have aided our school being critically underperforming. Professional development have not penetrate or help to break their mind-set as yet.
