All professional development opportunities that I have experienced have added to my overall knowledge and skill in the field, however the ones that were most impactful for me were those that had both a theoretical and practical component. Having the ability to put theory into practice is the best way to internalize new information and significantly increases ones understanding and likelihood of making it a part of ones professional practice.
