Teacher's attitude and environment
It is really amazing how the attitude and actions of a teacher can lead to how far the environment can be organized to accommodate inclusive education or how much a teacher will do for a child/children in his/her care daily.
Once you have entered the field of education, it means one is desirous of imparting knowledge to bring change to your charges. It should not matter if the child/children are described as having a disability. Personally I believe it is my duty as a teacher to organize and do what is necessary, or go the distance and help a child/children, because I am an agent of change.
Being an agent of change when referring to inclusion and any other aspect of teaching or educating will put one in a place to make room for progressive change. .A positive attitude is an asset if one wants to see progress in any venture. However, it must not be at face value but genuine. A genuine attitude and action will lead to being an agent of change , this attitude will allow the individual to add to the ethos of the environment and it can encourage other staff members to become involved in making the school a more appropriate place for inclusive education. The students would also be inclined to learn, they would feel comfortable and accepted in their space, parents as well as other stakeholders would sense the positive vibes ,see the progress and offer their services.
Generally, the attitude of the teacher/teachers can result in change to the ethos of the school's environment, thus leading to a physical change that would benefit all involved.
