Activity 4.4 School-Based partnership

Activity 4.4

Key points

The key points and reasons I would present to the school management to convince them to support my plan for creating an inclusive school is as follows. Firstly, I would appeal to their humanity, showing different case studies of how exclusion affects families and children. Then I would reiterate the fact that children do not ask to be different or to have special needs and that any child can be born with disabilities. Secondly, I would appeal to the educator in them and allow them and remind them that all children can learn if given a chance and that if we all work together, we can all help.

Therefore, building relationships with stakeholders such as local businesses can help fund physical attributes of an inclusive school by helping with infrastructures and funding social programmes such as nutrition. As such religious groups and community development groups or even a higher rate of parental involvement will help. These can help as volunteer teacher assistants and building social acceptance by the community and other children on special needs children and people. Also, the local health facilities can help with identifying health issues and educating the community as well.

The risks or challenges that setting up these school management and local district office may be government’s policy towards such involvement in schools from outside sources or the lack of support from stakeholders and cultural barriers. A risk can be that stakeholder’s vision and values may not line up with the school’s vision. However, the advantages may be that the stakeholders buy into the belief that all children can learn and that everyone can do something to help.
