Pick out two factors that you think are particularly
effective in contributing to an inclusive ethos and culture and describe them.
In responding to this question it is important to note that
research has shown that a school with a strong ethos has a higher level of
teacher retention, increasing levels of achievement and success and a better
overall performance. Hence the reason I believe two factors that are
particularly effective in contributing to an inclusive ethos and culture are: 1. Effective leadership/administration. 2. Parent
involvement/stakeholders.
Effective leadership/administration leads to student being challenged
to reach their highest potential. A good leader creates/sets high expectations
of staff. He/she always aims at improving teaching technique. There is always
close monitoring and motivation of staff. An effective administrator always
ensures that the resource room is equipped with resources required by staff
members to meet each child’s need.
With effective leadership comes a safe and well-arranged physical
environment and corporative parents. My second factor refers to parental
involvement/stakeholders. Research has shown that parental involvement
correlates with improve academic performance, positive attitude towards school
and academic perseverance. The parent plays a critical part in the child’s
education. A school that is open to parents and involves them in their planning
demonstrates a great culture. Parent and teacher conferences also opens to high
level of inclusion.
