Describe some professional development training that you have experienced that you felt was very effective and helpful, and made a difference to your practice. Say briefly why you found it helpful. It is important to note that in the field of education growth and development are very important. In my field of special education I have participated in many professional development training sessions in which some were more helpful than others. I believe what would have made them more effective is if the process for training mentioned by Daniel was followed. With that said, my training in assessment was one of my most effective and helpful training. By using the tool I was able to capture all aspects of my students it allowed for parent, teacher and student participation. It permitted me to identify student’s weaknesses and strengths in various areas such as academics, life skills... Upon completion of the assessment you are able to identify the chorological age the child is functioning at. The information gathered from all stakeholders allowed me to better prepare activities to meet the child’s immediate need, conduct regular monitoring and evaluation.
