1.7 Activity: monitoring inclusive school

Highlight one inclusive feature of a school and how you know.

My job as a special education instructor allows me to work in various government and denominational schools. An inclusive feature observed in one of my government schools is that of cultural diversity. Just as we emphasize that no child is left behind they acknowledge all religions. Two weeks before a said religious holiday/festival the entire school is grouped by classes. Classes are decorated with anything that represent the particular religious group. Resource personal are sourced from the community to give talk about the holiday. As the day gets closer each class group are allowed to dress in the particular attire and perform something based on the religion in front of the entire school and members of the community. On the last day, the entire school teachers also dress up and special meals, snacks, and gifts are serve. This type of activity involves the whole community which results in an improvement in the physical surroundings as parents and members assist freely in maintaining and upgrading it. It also builds team work among teacher to teacher, student to student, and parent to teacher. With the introduction of this there has also been an improvement in their academic performance. This cultural diversity activity also make this school one of the most sought by parents.
