This course " Creating an Inclusive Classroom " was a very educational and informative to me. Two things that I would take forward into my practice are a positive attitude and working with the parents and community.
Teachers' attitude towards inclusive education is a prerequisite for its successful implementation.
A positive and welcoming attitude will encourage students to want to learn and this will have a positive impact on the parents as well as the school.
Working with parents and the community as a team, sharing ideas and information will benefit all the students particularly those with special needs. With the information and knowledge that I have gained through this course I would work on creating an Inclusive school.
"System thinking" where ideas and information are shared is a take away for me as well Hyacinth. Its no surprise to me that the two things that i will definitely take forward into practice would be ensuring that the school of which i am apart develop as a "Learning Organization'. When we operate as a learning organization we will be able to plan' research and share information with each other for the growth of all the stakeholders, especially for the learners and those who facilitate their learning.
In our learning organization we will put into practice the knowledge we have gained about being resourceful and so use up the COL website among others.
Another thing i will take away with me is to place emphasis in the developed learning organization on teachers to be reflective teachers. A scholar once said, " We do not learn from experience,we learn from reflecting on experience' after all the classroom is where our first professional development starts. Its where we take a look at what we have done and think about why we did it.
