Activity 4.5 Itinerant Teachers

The itinerant teacher would ensure that materials being used with students be relevant to their needs, provide strategies on how all students could be fully engaged in their learning and acts as a resource for parents as they help families to get the social help they may need.

One main challenge I would see these teachers having would be the unteachable attitudes of some teachers. Many who have been in the system a while may not be willing to change their teaching styles or even challenge their attitudes towards their learners. Another challenge would be the attitude of the parent also. Some parents may be too proud to accept the help being given and also ashamed .

Despite any challenges an itinerant teacher would be an asset to any school.

I have not been exposed to a school working with outside organisations in such a manner in my context.
