For a school that you know, select one of the points above and describe a policy that is in place. Describe the policy and say how it supports inclusive practice.
At this school there are many of the mentioned polices listed above one of the policies that I chose to describe is “how to monitor progress, share information and review pupils support needs.”
In order to monitor students’ progress the stakeholders involved in the child’s life should come together and agree on what they want for the child, identify set goals and needs of the student and his/her rate of progress (IEP) These will be monitored through:
1. Informal observation: this informs teachers to issues and information that cannot be provided on written test.
2. Self-assessment: this will help students stay motivated and interested in his/her learning
3. Testing: test should not only be pen and paper they can involve oral response, video, multiple choice which only requires the child making a tick or shading, or cloze phrase/short answers.
4. Daily Logs
It is important to share information but even more important it should be confidential. Information can be shared during parent teacher consultation, during school base support team meeting, staff meeting and student/parent/teacher meeting.
As the student works, teachers must always review the support that is student needed, this can be done by:
1. Collaborating with parents/caregiver
2. Consulting with other teachers
3. Consulting with student
4. Reviewing of her log and observation to make amendments if needed.
I am in total agreement with you. I would like to stress on confidentiality. It is very important to the child's development and welfare.
