Activity 1.4 Developing a positive attitude

Cultural beliefs contribute to the limitation of the special needs child. In my experience a child was observed with particular behaviour. After numerous meeting with the parents and administrators several recommendations were made to get the child tested based on observations made. The child was diagnosed with Autism. The parents were not honest with information on the registration forms and firmly stated that the child was "normal". The parents beliefs "that nothing was wrong with the child  "  which held back the child from getting the proper care and resources  from an early age . Clearly children achieve  milestone at certain ages , when they are not achieved testing and  intervention is needed.
