I have seen a school I previously worked with get buy in from parents to promote a food festival event at the school. The school is seen as a place where all students are welcomed and supported in their academic and social development. Students who may be considered underperformers, when exposed to this school environment are able to achieve academically and build self esteem.  As a result, parents are always willing to assist. This event is significantly supported by parents and students of the school. All profits made are used to host a Christmas dinner for the entire school, free of charge.
