Activity 3.2: Experiences of professional development

As an educator for over fifteen years, I have attended many professional development courses. Professional development workshops always provide me with some food for thought to improve my practice.  The professional development workshops I attended that I deem effective was the workshop that was interactive and pertains directly to my practice as an educator.

I have been to several teacher workshops just like Mulrain. This particular one came at a time innovations were  being introduced into our education system in order to eqip learners with practical education.   The workshop was to re-orientate and sensitzse us on revised  strategies to teach subjects in the social sciences area that I belong to. Use of locally available resources was emphazised and we collected and modelled a number of them during the workshop.  I experienced  a mindshift about pedagogy both at college and school level especialy that locally sourced materials if properly thought out can lead to effective teaching and learning.
