Teachers should be ongoing learners to deal with new challenges that happen in a changing world. on the other hand Teacher educators who support the teachers should also have PD activities which might centre on the following:
developing new skills to deal with learners with diverse needs
attitude change and mindset to provide equality to all learners
knowledge and skills to deal with large groups of learners in one classroom but have diverse abilities
positive and cordial relationships with all learners especially young learners to build confidence and trust
attending PD activities at every possible opportunity
I agree with John that CPD is very important if teachers are going to be able to effectively address the various specific needs of learners.
Use of resources is an aspect that continuously be reviewd during PD of teachers. To be aware of which resouces are needed hence make them available is 'knowlegde for practice' Secondly, a resource like a well labelled relevant chart must be planned for and indicated in the lesson plan at which point it would be used ,'this is knowledge in practice' During the lesson a learner may not be able to read what is written on the chart for whichever reason; here the teacher may move the chart closer to the learner so that they read on their own or the teacher may read as they repeat after the teacher so that they perhaps get the pronounciations correctly-this is' knowledge of practice' All these efforts would allow every child to be embraced in the lesson.
