4.2 Working with families

A partnership between teachers and families helps develop successful and well-rounded students. This partnership provides students with more opportunities to learn and grow from a larger range of viewpoints and life experiences. Teachers can find avenues in which to get parents actively involved. Some ways might be:

1.     Have parents volunteer for school activities such as:

-         Clubs and committees participation e.g. Fund Raising, Scouts etc.

-         Library rotations/story hour

-         Field trips and excursions chaperoning

2.     Create a resource bank of parent skills to be utilized at the school. They can be useful in:

-Decorating, Plumbing, Construction, Cooking/Baking/, First-Aid etc.
