Bringing It All Together

In completing this course I have learnt that in creating an inclusive school all learners must be included and the proper ethos and culture must be maintained. In achieving this I will be more mindful in ensuring that all stakeholders are involved. I would provide additional opportunities for the school operate as an organization for the benefit of all. Such as additional support group meetings and a more open door policy. More often we tend to isolate children with disabilities from the rest, and neglect the proper measures that are needed to support these learners. I believed also that more focus must be placed on those with both invisible and acknowledged disabilities, because in our Caribbean setting we rely mainly on a Teaching Aid. Our main excuse is that we are not properly trained to deal with such issues. As educators, we must find ways to work with everyone so that the children will be able to grow and develop to their fullest potential as they contribute to the society as productive and caring adults. Furthermore, we can make some adjustments our curriculum, provide more facilities and equipment, make more teaching and learning resources for all learners and maintain our environment so that it is safe and accessible. I believe that all this can be achieve if all work together. The attitude of the staff at the centre is therefore a major influence in ensuring that all this is accomplished.
