Copyright and open licensing in Myanmar is an adaptation of the Creative Commons Certificate for Librarians [Tip: hold Ctrl and click a link to open it in a new tab. (Hide tip)] published as of December 2019 (the ‘Original Work’), licensed by Creative Commons under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. This adaptation is made and published as part of the Transformation by Innovation in Distance Education project (the ‘Adapter’) under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, unless otherwise stated.

The Adapter modified the Original Work in the following respects:

  • revised and reordered content to contextualise for the Myanmar context
  • added new material and sections, including information on Myanmar copyright law developed from content commissioned from Rouse
  • translated the remixed course from English to Myanmar language
  • incorporated reworked and existing sections of material from the TIDE project from the Finding and evaluating OER slides and Adapting OER session notes (all CC BY 4.0-licensed) by Beck Pitt & Yin Tun and Beck Pitt, respectively.

Examples of openly licensed research by Myanmar scholars included in Unit 6 were provided by Iryna Kuchma. Openly licensed illustrations were commissioned from Visual Thinkery for the remix of the course and details of these, along with existing OER that has been included, is listed in the Acknowledgements (‘the Adapted Work’).

Using the Original Work or the Adapted Work does not mean the individual doing so has earned a CC Certificate; nor may any organisation or individual offer a ‘CC Certificate’. Note that the trademarks of Creative Commons and the Adapter are the property of their owners and require permission to reuse. Anyone who wants to take the CC Certificate is welcome to register here: https://certificates.creativecommons.org.

If you would like to remix the course, you can download the course content in different formats from this website and can find commissioned illustrations via the TIDE Flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/ photos/ 191008788@N06 All other content can be found via the relevant links on the Acknowledgements page.
