Sometimes when shooting a video interview some people might find it difficult to organize their ideas and speak in front of the camera. If this happens you can ask your interviewee to write their thoughts on paper to remember what to say.

Here are two other tips to make video interviews work smoothly:

  1. Write the text in capital letters and hold it just on the top of the camera so the interviewee can read it during the video shooting.
  2. You can read the interviewee’s paper and ask them to repeat it sentence by sentence. You can then delete your voice during the final edit and keep just the images and voice of the interviewee.

The Voiceover

Another way to use a recorded text in a video is a technique called ‘voiceover’.

The voiceover is a piece of narration in a video not accompanied by an image of the speaker.

In the final edit, the voiceover can be accompanied by words, illustrations and videos that clarify what you are listening to.
